At the age of thirteen, Sabina lost function in her knee. At the age of eighteen she nearly lost her life. In between, she lost her sense of self; and had no choice but to mourn it. Rebirth is often depicted as a beautiful process: the glowing phoenix rising from the ashes. Few people, however, ever bear witness to the fire. Through her project “Somewhere In Between”, focusing on the hand as a means of expression in partnership with her sister as a model, Sabina hopes to provide her own window in to the process of adapting to difficult circumstances but losing oneself along the way.
